ChopCircuit is a generator device created in FL Studio Patcher, therefore it is exclusively compatible with FL Studio. It must be placed in the channel rack.
The features of the device, along with concrete examples of its use, are thoroughly explored in this video. Come take a look!
Instructions:
- access the "map" view by clicking on the corresponding icon in the top-left corner.
- open sliceX and drag your sample into it.
- slicex will automatically split the sample into sound regions based on transient analysis. If the automatic analysis fails, click the "auto-slice" icon (the fourth from the left) and select an automatic slicing method.
- once the sample is divided into sound regions, you can leave the map view and return to the surface to adjust various parameters.
The concept behind this device is to provide you with a rhythmic starting point and spark creativity from your own samples, which can be of any nature or genre.
The user interface is divided into three main sections:
- generation tab: this section includes a graph for randomizing the generation seed, a slider dedicated to controlling the generation speed, a pitch control, and a knob that allows for pitch variation.
- effect tab (located in the bottom-right corner): this includes a transient shaper (attack + release), a lo-fi knob, a compressor knob, and a reverb knob.
- filter tab: this section includes a master volume control and two filters (high-pass and low-pass) with adjustable resonance. Additionally, a slider allows you to set whether the filter is applied before or after the effects chain.
